How this site is built
Fast, calm software for messy, real-world problems starts with its own home page. Here are the receipts.

- Framework
- Astro 7, static output. Every page is plain HTML with its CSS inlined.
- JavaScript
- Under a kilobyte on load: a copy-email button, the "Read as an engineer" switch, and a loader for the / menu, which downloads only when you open it.
- Demos
- The try-it demos are real form controls and CSS
:has(). No JavaScript at all. - Fonts
- Arpona Light (Floodfonts) for headlines and DM Sans (OFL) for everything else, both self-hosted and cut down to the characters this site uses. Each page's headline is drawn from a tiny font embedded in the page, so it's in Arpona on the very first paint.
- Images
- Real screenshots captured from the live sites, served as AVIF and WebP at several widths.
- Security
- A strict Content Security Policy with a hash for every script and style. No inline style attributes anywhere.
- Privacy
- No cookies and no tracking scripts.
- Hosting
- Cloudflare Pages, built and tested in CI before anything ships.
How I build
I work with AI coding agents every day. I set the architecture, write the specs, review every change, and own the tests and the trade-offs. This site was built that way too.
